The Antigonish launch for Pam Calabrese MacLean’s poetry collection, The Dead Can’t Dance, will take place at the Bauer Theatre at St Francis Xavier University on September 30 at 8:00 p.m.
Philip Roy, author of Submarine Outlaw and Journey to Atlantis, will be reading at Word on the Street in Halifax alongside his wonderful homemade model submarine and possibly even the new addition to the Submarine Outlaw family, a model helicopter! Catch the action at the Cunard Event Centre, Halifax, NS, on Sunday September 27 from 11am to 5pm.
On Sunday September 6 Sheila James (author of the forthcoming short story collection In the Wake of Loss) will be reading as part of the Lit Live reading series. The event takes place at Bread & Roses Café, Sky Dragon Centre, 27 King William St., Hamilton, Ontario. Also reading will be Andreas Gripp, Bill Howell, Katherine Lawrence, Charmaine Cadeau and Emily Silbert.

Joseph Jones, translator of Les sables mouvants/Shifting Sands, will be reading in both French and English, in the Canada Writes tent. Les sables mouvants/Shifting Sands is a bilingual publication and is the first English translation of Hubert Aquin’s novella.
George McWhirter (The Anachronicles) will be reading at the Federation of BC Writers’ Poetry Hour.
