Frank Calder’s story is a fascinating read. He was Nisga’a, born in the wilderness of N.W. British Columbia, graduated from university, was an elected a member of BC’s Legislature for 26 years, and gained recognition for Aboriginal land title. His experience at residential school was positive and he believed all First Nation people should become self reliant. Popular with book clubs.
