Book Review: 5 out of 5 Stars for Freedom Bound

Found in the National Post’s literary arts section, the Afterword, is a review of Jean Rae Baxter‘s latest book, Freedom Bound, by fourteen-year-old, Shauna Freemantle.

Freemantle describes the book as “an incredible conclusion to the author [Jean Rae Baxter]’s bestselling trilogy which captivated [her] imagination.” She also praises the novel for it’s historical details, fully developed characters, giving it “5 out of 5 stars”.

Pamela Porter visits the Friendly City

Award-winning author Pamela Porter recently visited the Moose Jaw Public Library on a speaking tour. While in Moose Jaw, the Friendly City, Pamela Porter met up with Brett Hopper of Shaw TV and spoke about her upcoming young adult novel entitled I’ll be Watching, which is set in the area around Moose Jaw.

School District #73 annually hosts the Young Authors’ Conference for all Grade 4 to Grade 12 students in the Kamloops / Thompson District.

Norma Charles, award-winning author of Run Marco, Run, is honoured to be giving three sessions on “Being an Author” to students in grades 4 to 7.

The conference will be held at at the Thompson Rivers University on May 4, 2012.
