David Lester

David Lester has created a series of four “history from below” graphic novels with historians Marcus Rediker and Paul Buhle and published by Beacon Press. Those books have been trans- lated into seven languages. He wrote and drew a chapter in the anthology, Partisans: A Graphic History of Anti-Fascist Resistance (Between the Lines, 2025). He illustrated 1919: A Graphic History of the Winnipeg General Strike (2019), which was co-winner of the CAWLS Book Prize for the best book in Canadian work and labour studies and shortlisted for the George Ryga Prize for Social Awareness in Literature. He lives in Vancouver, BC.
